Hi,

I was just browsing through CARM and noticed that Matt Slick has been up to a few tricks, take a look at this thread:

I have to admit that it is quite a clever little ploy for him to be able to ban or suspend more atheists from his website. Essentially he made a post directed towards atheists where he requested atheist not address key issues in the argument! The follow up thread is then obviously an attempt to get atheists to bite (several do) in an attempt for him to be able to ban/suspend them from his site.

I have noticed an increase in irrational posts from Matt and with the recent moves in CARM to segregate atheists away from others it seems he is attempting to put his fingers in his ears and sing "LALALALALALA". He has made plenty of accusations of illogical arguments and has made many blanket attack on atheists.

I think that he has finally become aware that his arguments just do not stand up to close inspection and have holes in them that are easily pointed out (see the fine work of TheoreticalBS and others). The only way that he can keep his "flock" is to keep these people away from the believers...hence his actions on CARM preventing atheists from posting elsewhere.

The last time I saw behavior like this was when I was in the process of deconverting from Christianity. As my faith became weaker I tried to minimise my exposure to arguments against God and Christianity in a vain attempt to keep my faith. So is it possible that Matt Slick has finally discovered how week his arguments are and is slowly losing his faith?

I don't know about the losing his faith part, but he certainly knows that his arguments are crap. He may just be trying to keep other people from seeing his arguments are crap.

The idea of Matt and Diane salivating is not a pleasant one.... I must go and watch 'sound of music' to clear my mind!

Now in the mood of 'The sound of music' and simillar old, christmas style films/musicals- does anyone else feel that getting caught up in CARM is rather surreal- sort of like being in the middle of a 'Wizard of Oz' film set?

What do you atheists think of the sacrifice of Christ?
In it he gave his life for others.
In it he bore the sins (imputation) of his people, which must have been a very difficult thing to do.
He forgave people, even those crucifying him.
I'm not interested in "I don't affirm myths", and all that.

I am ONLY interested in atheists' comments that deal with this teaching of scripture.

I did a test. I posted an inquiry: What do you atheists think of...

As I expected, even after me saying that I wasn't interested in the typical atheist comments about myth, etc. the atheists just couldn't help themselves. They had to get in there and start criticizing.

Now, THIS is why I don't take any of you seriously anymore. I gave up trying to seriously discuss anything with you because NO MATTER WHAT I SAY YOU ARGUE WITH IT!!! I gave up trying to have any meaningful debates with any of you because NO MATTER WHAT I SAY YOU ARGUE WITH IT!!!

I mean, you can't even settle down and just be cool. You have to argue everything.

It just doesn't matter. You just argue, all the time, every which way, about everything. When I offer a post about great love and sacrifice, here it comes... challenges!

Then, you whine when I point out that I asked not for challenges, but for comments about a great act of sacrifice and love. But no.... you guys just have to argue.

So, when the new boards come along, there will be some very strict application of the rules to the atheists. There's going to be a new rule: "No jerks allowed."

I know, a vague rule. But Diane and I are going to have a great time enforcing it.

You can thank yourselves for your own image, behavior, and the ramifications of your constant challenge to everything....except your own atheism, of course.

In other words: a) a demand to dismiss 99% of relevant evidence in answering his question, followed by b) mockery and condemnation when his totally unreasonable expectation is not met.

But the most bizarre of all is his inadvertent self-expulsion from his own board with the new rule "No jerks allowed". Talk about cutting off the branch you are sitting on!

I have to post this here - as it'll likely be my last post ever at CARM. I figured since I'm not joining back up when the forums change, and i wouldn't really want to any way, I might as well tell Slick and his Slickites what I really think. All without necessary language required. lol

When I read those two threads I literally said "now I want to be atheist, just because I read this crap". lol

Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean that you can go off the handle and say that they're stupid, that they're hateful, etc.

If you don't want questions to be asked in return, or if you don't want someone to say "why SHOULD I accept the sacrifice of a religion I don't believe in?" then don't post in a DISCUSSION FORUM.

To post a topic for people to discuss and then complain when they try to discuss it is more than asinine.

This thread and your responses to the other original thread should be in the WHINING BOARD, you big fat baby.

Good riddance to bad junk. Make new forums so you can erase all of the old comments that show how completely unChristian you all are (especially Diane, who is probably editing this post [hi Diane *wave*]).

You don't realize this (because you can't pull your heads out of your butts in order to see it), but Christians like YOU are WHY atheists exist in the first place.

Hear! Hear! When (if) I get back to carm I plan on saying similar things. Like: to thank them for showing me the true meaning of their kind of Christianity. I think they have done more damage to their cause than they realize. I used to think most Christians were nice folks. Now after being exposed to their kind of thinking I have less respect for their religion. I can't stand to even listen to most of these preacher types on the radio or TV any longer.
