As threads get longer, it would be helpful to include the feature that allows individual posters to skip to the last post they read.
Can this be added?

That feature is already in use.
When you go into a forum and see the "new" just to the left of the thread subject, that means there have been new posts and if you click on the "new" only it will take you to the first unread post.
