Thought I ought to say something. Hope this site can attract some more good people. I am one of the old farts here. Inside there still lives a 20 year old some place. Retired biology/botany teacher. Taught almost 30 years at a University in Fayetteville NC. Originally from Illinois. For those interested The wife and I have a web site you may like to visit. dandbhaas.com/

Hey DrPepper! An aspirant old fart checking in here but I haven't grown a beard yet.
I was most impressed with the woodpecker's tongue. What did you do to get it to stick it out at you?

Wasn't that cool. Got that from a dead woodpecker. Just think if only we had one like that we wouldn't need forks. Did you see the bobcat picks in the animal trail cam pics. Just got that shot last week. Didn't know we had them around here.

By "shoot" I presume this was not the cause of death for the poor woodpecker. This trail camera - do you just set it up and have some kind of sensor snap off a shot when something comes by? How does that work?

How does that work? I just shoot with cameras now. Trail cameras use an infrared sensor and can be programed. The one I use uses a Sony Digital camera and takes better pictures than some of the self contained units. There are a lot of different kinds out there. Any large sporting goods store has them. It is a lot like fishing because you don't know what you are going to catch. Did you see the bobcat on the website? Didn't know they were around here.
