From the roof of Japan, the slopes which lead, like a stairway to heaven, to the majestic Japan Alps, I offer my greetings and introduction.
Like TAR (see that introduction thread below; in this forum page), I too have followed in the footsteps of those who have received a 'sign' from posts in the Science Forum-The Original (SFN). It had been on a thread basically discussing why more of 'religious belief-system' sub-forum might be considered a good thing for a science forum. I agree, such can be good for scientific investigation--perhaps yet another way to help bridge the two usually 'opposite sides of campus' disciplines.
My basic interest in science at large, has pretty much grown along with my basic interest in, shall we say (for now) 'spirituality.' While I have done some (and continue to do at a very slow, snail's pace even now) looking into Buddhism and Hinduism, I have by far, mostly concentrated in the Judeo-Christian lines. I have yet to really delve into Islam (guess I should, some cloudy day).
This forum set up (rules and basic tenets of operation) looks good. The foundational premise of the forum looks good too. I'd like to point out that my stance is mostly (as humanly as human can be...when at its best) one of sharing information, discussing so as to spur thoughtfulness and investigation, and ask for care to detail. It is not my intention to more specifically 'convince' (as in winning an opponent's conclusion to an understanding I have presented)--as well pointed out in an explanation of this forum's concepts, well-ingrained opinions and beliefs, will most usually be just so . . . well-ingrained.
I also hope to have fun, since for me, it is interesting and fun. I tend to approach religion and religious belief-systems matters from a more scientific angle (at the exclusion, even, of much philosophical thought experiment), so please do keep that in mind too.
I wish to express my gratitude for ydoaPs's sharing this link with us.
