syntheist:(n) one who believes in one or more deities yet does not believe in any deities? That doesn't seem to make any sense. However, if you're talking about worldviews neither theism nor atheism alone offers one. Can you still read over at CARM? If so check out my thread "Consider me a Syntheist". Why can't you define it coherently here?

That doesn't make any sense. (a)theism is a true dichotomy regarding the metaphysical claim of the existence of deities. There's no third option, and no associated viewpoints.

I am a strong atheist with regard to certain definitions of deity. As are all monotheists. They're still theists. Right. Just as some atheists may be theists in the sense of believing in some kind of deity but not the more common one. Which is why syntheists see the atheist-theist distinction as irrelevant and misleading. Syntheism is about breaking down the walls erected by the terms.

YdoaPs, Any of the words might not define one's worldview, but if one fits the label of one of the words, it gives a starting point, from which others can understand their worldview. I think that one of the problems atheists have with theists is they can not understand how the theist can base their worldview on something that is evidently not true. And I think that theists don't feel that atheists have anything on which to base a worldview, and as such have sort of a weak, empty worldview. Each wishes to cure the other of their problem. Regards, TAR P.S. And then naz and I wish to cure everybody.
