Got me yesterday. All I did was agree with a poster that the mods and the administration were not being fair in restricting who can post where. Didn't mention any names like some I have seen. Well... I did mention it reminded me of how in 6th grade some teachers would punish the entire class for the actions of a few.
Just saw a thread asking Matt if he would run a country like he runs the boards. Oh well... Does anyone know if they are keeping track so that you can not register as some one else? I have done that in the past. (about about 4 times in more years than that)

Seems like a lot of poster names are labelled "banned/suspended". I am assuming these bans are temporary, a few days. Right?

Hey drpepper! Welcome to the bolt-hole!
I've lost count of the number of times I've been banned; and oddly enough, often for the remarks I thought were within the rules. One thing I've noticed though: criticize Matt or Dianne, and one of the mods comes trolling along scanning all your posts and they'll find something.
Something else I've noticed is that on occasion all of a sudden I can't access CARM, even though I haven't been banned. But if I come in on a different IP, I can. So this does suggest they track IP's and they're not even honest about banning.
If you really want to be untrackable you can come in via an anonymiser, e.g.
will do the trick. But frankly I don't think it's worth it. I noticed that I kept on scaling back the discussion to the point of self-censorship and frankly that's not healthy. I don't think I'm going to lend them any more legitimacy.

According to the rules, if you've got 20 points of infractions then you're banned, and the infraction lapses after 30 days. But for some reason if you're on exactly 20 points then you're usually back in within about 3 days.

I racked up 30 points so I could be gone a while. Whatever...there hadn't been a decent discussion in the Evo forum for quite a while, and I didn't really go anywhere else on CARM.

I run about one ban every other month or so.
I got a warning today for saying a poster was "squawking like parrot" after posting a large cut/paste.
They even edited out the word "pathetic" as some kind of offense.
How pathetic is that?

I get banned a lot. It's usually mod8 and usually(when they give a reason) some warped logic to try to invent an infraction. I think I'm done with CRAM.

I have no warnings or bans, but I can't access CARM without proxy at all. Weird.

Incidentally, I understand the naming of moderators by number (mod8, mod9 etc) happened a couple of years ago when a bunch of them ganged up and revolted against the Authority. So they were given impersonal numbers to make it harder for them to identify each other. Har. Isn't there something in Revelations about everyone being numbered?

Frankly, CARMS reaction to people posting here shows just how grandiose and delusional they have become! I am glad I chose to leave....
I enjoy having frank open discussions with people of broad opinion without the constant unkind, controlling, paranoid censorship.

She certainly has the ability to slow down access from your IP or block it altogether. This has been done - permanently for some posters. It is not a good idea to use one's CARM name when posting on a forum that discusses CARM. People have been banned from CARM for that. Notary Sojac

I got in with no trouble at all with that link. This really makes me wonder now. A note to ADSL users: usually if you unplug your ADSL for more than 10 minutes or so your IP will end up being re-assigned, in which case the IP block becomes ineffective. Too bad for the fellow who ends up with your old IP, though!
